Bellyfull Tilt
Heading to see the in-laws (and aunt in-law) in Williamsburg at dawn tomorrow. Not sure what's in store but I'm prepping for the drive alone. I often forget that the first time I drove the car we have now it was from Boston to DC with a jungle of plants in the backseat.
At that point, the trip was the longest I had driven in 5 years.

Colorful Activities
Home alone for a couple days while Emily and her parents chill in Williamsburg. I'll be heading out to see them Saturday.
It's always weird being here by myself. I make bachelor chow (ie Futurama) which is basically all the leftover crap in the fridge wrapped in a tortilla.

Put in a Breather
Work has started to sap most of my energy so updating this blog has fallen off. My hope is to establish some additional habits but the implementation has been rocky.
We'll see. There could be a scale back in the near future for my sanity.

Ape Redux
Reading a book about evolution and learned that the
traditional evolution of man illustration grossly misrepresents how the actual
process took place. In truth, it was far more lateral and messy. Strange how
the limitations of our mind, inherited from those very apes, caused us to
assume this linear progression.
This is the vexing nature of science - things are
constantly in flux. And the more of us there are to discover thing, the more
technology grows, the harder it is for us to catch up to what is true. And grappling
with the fact that what is true now, may not be that way for long.

Weaving
Our half marathon was a little short because it was a slap dash operation. The beginning and end traced along the shoulder of a busy-ish road. We met a littering of the weird things you encounter on such shoulders - indistinct pieces of metal, discarded cups and wrappers, the shattered red jewels of a broken taillight. Much of the route involved going out and back through neighborhoods, no doubt in an attempt to try and get the milage correct.

The body has four basic symptoms when it's fighting infection: Heat, swelling, redness and pain. Rubor, calor, tumor and dolor. I like this. It makes me happy. Things divided into four. The Humors. Hard Truths
I was going to lie and say that the word of the day was too boring so I drew the picture below instead, but the truth is I accidentally drew a second picture for the word Omnium-gatherum from two days ago.
Whoops.
In my defense after over 900 pictures drawn it was bound to happen.
UPDATE: So it turns out I thought I had drawn a second picture for Omnium-gatherum but actually I thought the picture Ransack was the first version of it. So there actually is a picture for Demarche today.
It all gets really confusing when I have trouble posting all of these pictures for every day. What can you do?

Terrible Now
I saw Cirque de Soliel today and for the first time in a while I was truly astounded by the performance. Despite having a deep theater background, I've always had trouble watching live shows. I jump into the performers' bodies and get terrified for them - almost paralyzed with the fear that they'll make a mistake.
But this time the terror was pushed to the limit - so far it forced me to face the fact that everything carries risk. Other art is curated, safe and composed in a way live shows can never be. No matter how much money someone throws at it. I've been trying to tamper that experience, keep it off my front porch. But after this...I may be inviting it back in more readily.
