Return to the Simple

Today's going to be my last day of the more extensive posts with writing and the drawings. I haven't been getting the drawings done in a timely way and I need to simplify things right now. Could be I feel like ramping up in the new year but until then I'm back to just haikus.

Swerves

I've just stopped drawing altogether. I've started reading too much news.

Avuncular

Today, my brother and his wife had a baby.

I want to write more about it but...I don't know. The feelings are like an electric fog surrounding me. I can only catch little wisps -- pride, hope, fear, excitement, love -- before other bits come flooding in.

I lack the eloquence to paint that picture.

I'm really happy for them.

COME ON GUYS

Ok now it's starting to get a little annoying. Merriam-Webster did it AGAIN! A repeat word, five years later (post here) I mean, that's just sloppy guys. Don't you have a big spreadsheet you can hit "Ctrl + F" for the words you're looking to post for that day and go "oh sh*t, looks like we did that one already...I guess we'll just have to pick from the QUARTER MILLION WORDS LEFT IN THE F*CKING ENGLISH LANGUAGE!"

*sigh*

Ok I'm cool.

No I'm not. THEY DO A PODCAST EVERY DAY ABOUT THE WORD!! HOW ARE THEY NOT CATCHING THIS SH*T? THEIR REPUTATION IS BASED ON BEING A GOOD MANAGER OF INFORMATION!! WTF M-W?!?!

Get some intern to put together a spreadsheet with each word on it. If you get an eager one, you could knock that shit out in two days, a week, tops. Done. Hire me Merriam-Webster. I look at your dumb site all the time anyways.

Today's Haiku

Snapping the Unbroken Line

I've been writing three pages a day on a website called 750words.com and today I woke up and realized I didn't finish from yesterday. I lost a streak of over 580 days. It was a blow, I can't deny it. I mourned the loss. But only for about 15 minutes because it transitioned quickly into relief. I didn't realize how much weight I was carrying.

This makes me think about the pictures and I've decided to stop them at the end of the month. Go back to just haikus and maybe little things of writing here or there. We'll see where the wind takes me.

Catching Up

I really need a haircut. It just feels like I don't have the time. What is that? I know I have the time. We all have time. Why does it feel like there isn't time for anything?

Ugh I'm cutting this short because I've convinced myself I need to be doing other things for the sake of - you guessed it - time.

Dictionary Disappointment

Holy crap Merriam-Webster had their first repeat word since I've been using it as inspiration for my pictures!! One of my favorites from back in 2014, "Pell-mell" from almost exactly five years ago.

Here's the link to the old post. I ramble about why I love fall and show off a crude soap carving.

I'm just posting the old picture. Can't improve on a classic!

Containing Multitudes

According to geneticists, every human on earth from European descent can claim lineage to Charlemagne.

In fact, every human on earth shares a common single ancestor as early as 1400 BC. Somewhere in Asia, apparently.

It reminded my of this video that just came out a couple days ago...
