First of October. 99th day of posting. I'm neck-deep in shows, wedding anticipation and planning, work madness, impending house guests, move hangovers, and cold, terrible weather. The good news is: I'm still afloat and still making progress and there's no time for sickness or mental health woes. I'm eating better than I have in a while, thanks to some choice planning on Emily's part. I'm still able to run, though the cold coming in will make things more difficult...my lunch runs and work-to-home runs my require a tad more planning.
TV has become more of a crutch to detox the days...though it really is more of a detriment than a plus because it drives bedtimes back and we lose out on sleep.. A couple rules to institute to curb this nasty habit in the future:
- Create a list of half-hour to one-hour tasks and stick 'em in a jar. When the TV itch comes a callin', reach into that puppy and do the task.
- Go outside once every night, even if it's just to walk around the block. Not great once winter barrels in, but I like the idea.
- Create a schedule and have a "show" day, where we catch up on what we've missed. Now that the fall seasons are in full swing this could be super helpful
-NO TV WHEN EATING FOOD. This is so hard to break because that brings such and relaxing draw to it. Maybe limiting to once a week, and then making a jar of conversation topics or something? That sounds kinda sad, but I think after you've been together for nearly 5 years and living together for more than 4, a bit of prompting isn't such an ugly thing, especially if we take the time to choose the topics together. Will update if it's something we try.
This is obviously a hard thing to start enforcing at the moment, but down the line I'm hoping to bring these strategies into the mix.
Something else I'm beginning to realize: I'm living in an age where there is no true guide. Technology has advanced so quickly that life experience from generation to generation is becoming more disparate. The "traditional" gauges and methods to success and betterment are starkly obsolete. Perhaps this has always been true and each group feels the yoke on their back and reacts appropriately, feeling that THIS is their time to make change, to influence trends. So what's my contribution? With hairline shards we barely pierce the skin's surface...

Haiku of the Day:
Interrupted streams
of pressing notions billow
under bloodshot eyes
Today's Drawing (inspired by the word "Stiletto" from a random word generator because both words of the day were humdrum.)
