A Day on the Lake

Started the day earlier than I would have liked but it began with the promise of adventure. We traveled to a friend's lakehouse in New Hampshire via bus. Did some tubing and corn-holing. Mostly enjoyed the wonderful hospitality and nostalgic atmosphere. It smelt of old woodsy cabins and the lazy, buzzing air of camp. The upstairs consisted of nothing but beds, around six of seven of them, for when the whole family comes down at once. There was a stasis about it that I haven't felt in a long time, like a fixed point in history that remains unmoving despite events transpiring around it. It felt like that musky notion of home that I haven't felt since my father's parents sold their very old house back in the early 2000's. Something to consider making a part of my own home in the future.
