Today's project have all been completed by guest artists. This is a test for what I plan on doing for when I'm on my honeymoon. The writing is from Michael Kiley. The drawing is done by Allie Bright. And the haiku is by Emily Kuehn.
"The delete key is the enemy. It gives us the opportunity to completely erase our contributions after the most fleeting judgments of inadequacy. In only a moment, we can assess a record of our day, view it in a dim light, and banish what we wrote with minimal effort. There is a temptation to fall into a rhythm of attempted perfection which can stunt and silence.
For instance, the pattern could go: Write. Delete. Rewrite. Delete. Write again. Edit. Reformat. Delete. Write. Delete. Give up. Wait months. Write. Delete. Save. Hide. Forget.
The biggest hurdle can be to generate content and find a sense for voice. The development of this blog and the regimenting that keeps it alive is key for Chodos finding himself and for us to find Chodos. It takes bravery to choose to keep content and I envy his talents.
F*ck the delete key. It's keeping us down." - Mike Kiley
